Off-Campus Study

It’s important to meet with your academic advisor regarding courses you plan to take off campus and how this fits within your academic plan, particularly counting credits toward your major and providing appropriate course descriptions. 

Some things to consider as a studio art or art history major as you plan your off-campus study experience:

Studio Art

• Recommended times to study off campus:
  • Junior year, spring semester
  • New York Arts Program, spring of junior year or fall of senior year
  • Any summer term
• Credits that count towards your major which you might consider taking off-campus:
  
  • Elective studio courses (submit syllabus to department chair prior to off-campus semester)
  • Elective 200-level art history courses (submit syllabus to department chair prior to off-campus semester)

Art History

• Recommended times to study off campus:
  • Junior year, fall or spring semester
  • Any summer term
• Courses that count towards your major which you might consider taking off-campus:
  • 200-level period courses that take advantage of the off-campus study location (submit syllabus to department chair prior to off-campus semester)
  • Second language acquisition, especially one that might benefit your focus in art history
