Angela Carpenter focuses on Christian theology and ethics, with an emphasis on Reformed theology. She teaches Faith Seeking Understanding, Food and Faith, and Becoming Good. She joined the Department of Religion in 2017.

Her book Responsive Becoming: Moral Formation In Theological, Evolutionary, and Developmental Perspective was released in April 2019 from T&T Clark.

areas of expertise

Dr. Carpenter鈥檚 research interests include moral formation, theology and the human sciences, and grace and ethics. Her next project is a book on grace and social ethics, to be published by Baker Academic.

Dr. Carpenter and her husband Rob Carpenter have two daughters. She enjoys walking her Holland neighborhood (even in the snow!) with her golden retriever, Peggy.
