Degree Programs
The neuroscience program offers an interdisciplinary major or minor, weaving together courses in biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, nursing, philosophy and psychology.
Neuroscience Major
The neuroscience major program at 换妻社区 teaches the fundamental principles of neuroscience in the context of a research-focused curriculum, so you will be well prepared to pursue a career in the field of neuroscience, cognitive psychology or an allied health field.
The program consists of 63鈥67 credit hours and will allow you to be broadly trained in the foundation disciplines of biology, psychology, chemistry and statistics while also providing depth in training at multiple levels of neuroscience in four neuroscience courses:
- Introduction to Neuroscience
- Neurochemistry and Neuropharmacology
- Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology
- Cognitive Psychology/Neuroscience
You will then have the opportunity to tailor your major by selecting the most appropriate:
- Cognate courses in computer science, engineering, physics and philosophy and
- Upper level biology or psychology courses, which best suit your specific career goals
Finally, you will apply this new knowledge to novel problems in neuroscience in a collaborative research capstone experience in your junior or senior year.
Program Outcomes
换妻社区 students completing a Neuroscience degree will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental principles that contribute to neuroscience and apply this knowledge in an integrative fashion to novel problems and questions in the field
- Synthesize and differentiate among the various disciplines which contribute to the field of neuroscience
- Critically evaluate the primary neuroscience literature
- Collaboratively contribute to new knowledge in the field of neuroscience through hypothesis development, experimental design, data collection and data
- Create and deliver effective written, visual, and oral communication designed for both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
Neuroscience Minor
Like the neuroscience major, the neuroscience minor program at 换妻社区 is founded on one of its greatest strengths: its research program. Our program promotes the process of discovery and inquiry-based learning. The minor consists of a total of 23 credit hours, combining three core neuroscience courses with flagged courses from multiple disciplines. We strongly encourage you to make this minor your own.
鈥淚 think that I just decided to take on the neuroscience minor on a whim, but I am glad that I did. I appreciate the interdisciplinary aspect and that it is a minor that can be useful to people with lots of different academic backgrounds. The professors were interesting and brought a lot of knowledge to the program.鈥
